  • Wilco Manufacturing select Centreco (UK) Limited to deliver industry leading solar energy system
  • 105kW capacity system installed at Birmingham Premises
  • System comprised of 286 Tier One Solar Panels
  • CO2 emissions savings of over 595 Tonnes across the next 25 years

The UK’s leading installers of commercial solar panel systems, Centreco (UK) Limited, are pleased announce the completion of a 105kW Solar Panel System for Wilco Manufacturing at their premises in Birmingham. The solar panel system consisting of 286 roof mounted tier one panels will allow Wilco Manufacturing to generate their own green electricity, with the system predicted to save over 595 Tonnes of CO2 emissions over the next 25 years allowing the leaders in CNC turning and manufacturing to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. These CO2 savings are equivalent to 1,498,775 miles driven by an average passenger car.

Using the latest design techniques alongside site surveys, Centreco were able to design and install a bespoke solar energy system that matches Wilco’s electricity usage profile, ensuring the best long term commercial returns for the business. The utilisation of prime facing roof space allowed for an efficient and even panel layout whilst working to the operational criteria laid down by Wilco Manufacturing.

This solar energy system from Centreco gives Wilco Manufacturing immediate savings and peace of mind that they are protected against any future energy price hikes, in light of ever-increasing grid prices.

As Wilco Manufacturing work largely as sub-contractors producing hydraulic parts, dowels, and special fasteners for high quality clients, they were facing increasing environmental pressure from this wider supply chain to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The move to self-generated solar energy complements Wilco’s focus on a green future for the company, thereby meeting their client’s demands and constituting the next major stage of their sustainability plans.

Centreco’s Senior Energy Consultant, John Williamson said, “We are seeing many of our clients installing commercial solar energy system as part of their sustainability initiatives stemming from their client’s focus on a supply chain’s environmental integrity. High quality sub-contractors such as Wilco Manufacturing take the lead here through responding to such demands by moving to self-generated renewable energy systems.

Solar energy is perfect in a high energy usage environment such as machining and manufacturing as not only are green credentials substantially improved but a system also delivers immediate cost savings and peace of mind that the business is protected against any future energy price hikes. With a need to be cost competitive and immediate paybacks available the installation of solar energy system from Centreco makes sense now more than ever.

It was great to work with Wilco Manufacturing who had these positive strategic objectives at the heart of their decision to move to solar energy in the interests of their business and their clients.”
