Leading UK commercial solar energy system installers, Centreco (UK) Limited, announce the completion of a 42kW Solar Energy System for Thomas Lyte at their fine silver workshops in London.

The solar panel system consisting of 110 roof mounted tier one panels will allow Thomas Lyte to generate their own green electricity, with the system predicted to save over 226 Tonnes of CO2 emissions over the next 25 years allowing the world-renowned elite sporting trophy makers to significantly reduce their carbon footprint, with the CO2 savings equivalent to over 561,249 miles being driven by an average passenger car.

Thomas Lyte are Royal Warrant holders as silversmiths and goldsmiths to the Late Queen Elizabeth II.  They are best known as the designers and manufacturers of many of the world’s most famous sporting trophies, including the Emirates FA Cup, Guinness Six Nations, The Hundred trophies and Nitto ATP Finals trophies.

The luxury brand are a member of the Planet Mark sustainability certification program and are committed to cut carbon emissions year-on-year to achieve the ultimate goal of Net Zero by 2025.

David Brewer, Chief Operating Officer of Thomas Lyte said “Sustainability, in all senses of the word, is one of our founding values, and we are among over 800 Royal Warrant holders that encourage each other to be as sustainable as possible and to continually seek to reduce our carbon footprint.

“Solar was a natural next step for us, and we have been delighted by the quality of service that Centreco provides. Their customer-focused approach helped the process of installation run remarkably smoothly.”

For Thomas Lyte the installation of their Solar Energy System sits alongside their other green initiatives including a sustainable packaging programme, ‘Meat-Free Mondays’ and an electric car purchasing scheme for their staff – for which the solar energy system will also be used to provide truly green electricity for their vehicles.

With electricity costs on the rise, Thomas Lyte are also able to further benefit from equivalent fixed electricity costs of just 3.6p per kWh projected over the next 25 years. This offers a substantial saving against grid supplied electricity rates currently available and protects against long-term inflationary pressures on energy costs.

Phillip Mooney, Head of Technical Operations at Centreco reflected on the installation, “Thomas Lyte are typical of many high-profile clients that Centreco have installed solar energy systems for, in that they already benefit from an extensive environmental and sustainability programme. The natural next step for such Companies is to move to self-generated green electricity and after exploring alternative installation providers, Centreco were selected by Thomas Lyte to design and install a bespoke roof mounted installation for them on the basis of our full-service approach and like-minded focus on quality.

It was great to hear that David Brewer recognised the synergy between Thomas Lyte and Centreco with both companies being vertically integrated with extensive in-house teams handling projects in a full turnkey solution, we were pleased this was a factor behind deciding to install with Centreco over other providers and it was a pleasure to deliver a high-quality solar energy system for such a prestigious and discerning client.”
