  • World Leading Aluminium Processing Machinery Manufacturer select Centreco (UK) Limited to deliver future-proof industry leading solar energy system
  • 147kW capacity systems installed at Chesterfield manufacturing facility
  • System comprised of 396 Tier One Solar Panels
  • CO2 emissions savings of up to 723 Tonnes across the next 25 years
  • Electricity costs slashed to 3.4p per kW Hour for the long term

Centreco (UK) Limited, the leading installers of commercial solar energy systems announce the completion of a 147kW Solar Panel System for ALTEK at their premises in Chesterfield. The system consisting of 396 roof mounted tier one solar panels will allow ALTEK to generate their own green electricity, with the system predicted to save over 723 Tonnes of CO2 emissions saved over the next 25 years allowing ALTEK to reduce their carbon footprint, a key target for this leading aluminium manufacturing products business. These CO2 savings are equivalent to 1,822,451 miles driven by an average passenger car.

With electricity costs on the rise, ALTEK are now able to benefit from equivalent fixed electricity costs of just 3.4p per kWh for the next 25 years across their premises. This compares to prices we are currently seeing in the commercial energy market in advance of 25p per kwh, with these prices likely to increase further over time. No commercial energy supplier in the UK can deliver fixed electricity rates that match these equivalent prices.

Through site surveys and using the latest design techniques Centreco were able to design and install a bespoke solar energy system that matches ALTEK’s electricity usage profile, therefore ensuring the best long term commercial returns for the client.

Centreco are aware of the importance of long-term sustainability for ALTEK, so were able to offer a Tier 1 manufacturer backed 25-year performance warranty for the solar panels, allowing confidence in the system’s long-term performance with the peace of mind that the Centreco system will deliver on the long term environmental and commercial benefits.

Centreco’s Senior Project Manager Alan Cuthbert said, “Any company within the manufacturing sector are starting to feel the effects of rising energy prices as well as growing environmental pressure and ALTEK were no exception to this.

ALTEK are already world leaders in developing solutions for sustainable aluminium production, and within their own manufacturing process, thanks to Centreco’s Solar Energy System, this process is more environmentally friendly than ever before, with the added incentive to ALTEK that they will be able to benefit from a significant reduction in their expenditure on electricity.  It’s always a pleasure working with company who already have sustainability at their core and understands the benefits that a solar system can bring from day one.”

“ALTEK has a long history of working within the aluminum industry, helping customers achieve their sustainability goals by providing them with technologies that reduce operating waste and energy consumption.

“By generating and utilizing our own green energy, ALTEK is one step further to delivering on our own long-term sustainability strategy. This partnership supports our pursuit of the goal of providing customers a more sustainable supply chain, giving purpose to Harsco’s present, and defining our future.” said James Herbert, Managing Director of ALTEK Group.

Centreco deliver sixteen thousand tonnes of CO2 savings in two months

Image: Bespoke 351kW Centreco Solar Energy System Installation in Livingstone, Scotland

Centreco (UK) Limited, the leading solar energy system provider to businesses in the U.K. have delivered new installations across June and July which will save 16,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the next 25 years for its clients, a number equivalent to over 36 million miles driven by an average passenger car.

Having worked across 12 projects throughout the U.K. in this time, Centreco continue to provide solutions to increasing environmental pressures facing supply chains and the ever mounting environmental, sustainability and governance challenges faced by U.K. business.

With the added driver of commercial electricity price inflation now really hitting higher end users of electricity such as companies in manufacturing, production, fabrication and processing a solar energy system has never been as attractive as it is presently to combat power cost and insulate from future energy price hikes.

Centreco’s recent installations are delivering an average fixed forward electricity price at 3.7 pence per kilowatt hour over the 25 year period, which compares with average rates exceeding 30.0 pence per kilowatt hour on the grid supplied business energy market across June and July 2022.

Jon Williams, Managing Director at Centreco commented “Centreco have invested in infrastructure, resources and high quality installation staff to meet the increasing demand for our solar systems. We are pleased to see the uplift in our delivery bringing a positive impact by reducing our client’s environmental footprints and yielding real cost savings in their operations.

It has been a strong start to our financial year and with further energy price pressures forecast and potentially grid supply issues facing high end users of electricity, the demand profile for our services is forecast to multiply further. Having scaled our operation Centreco are well placed to deliver on the potential of solar energy for our increasing range of clients.

  • Wallwork Heat Treatment select Centreco (UK) Limited to deliver industry leading solar energy system
  • 44kW capacity system installed at County Durham Premises
  • System comprised of 96 Tier One Solar Panels
  • CO2 emissions savings of over 185 Tonnes across the next 25 years
  • Electricity costs slashed to 4.1p per kW Hour for the long term

The UK’s leading installers of commercial solar energy systems, Centreco (UK) Limited, announce the completion of a 44kW Solar Panel System for Wallwork Heat Treatment at their premisses in County Durham. The solar panel system consisting of 96 roof mounted tier one panels will allow Wallwork Heat Treatment to generate their own green electricity, with the system predicted to save over 185 Tonnes of CO2 emissions over the next 25 years allowing the leading provider of heat treatment and hard coating services to the manufacturing sector to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. These CO2 savings are equivalent to 466,672 miles driven by an average passenger car.

Using the latest modelling techniques alongside detailed site surveys, Centreco were able to design and install a bespoke solar energy system that matches Wallwork’s electricity usage profile, ensuring the best long term commercial returns for the business. By utilising Wallworks’s prime facing roof space Centreco could ensure an efficient and even panel layout whilst working to the operational criteria specified by the client.

With electricity costs on the rise, Wallwork are now able to benefit from equivalent fixed electricity costs of just 4.1p per kWh projected over the next 25 years. This offers a substantial saving against grid supplied electricity rates currently available and protects against long-term inflationary pressures on energy costs.

As Wallwork work for clients within the aerospace, motorsport and medical industries, they were facing increasing environmental pressure from this high-quality customer base to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The move to self-generated solar energy complements Wallwork’s focus on a green future for the company and contributes to its environmental compliance within wider supply chains.

“As a company we are always looking at ways that we can be more environmentally friendly and generating our own electricity using solar panels was the perfect way to do this. In addition, the current volatility of energy prices has reinforced the benefits of having a secure long-term supply.” Said Josh Fallows, Operartions Manager at Wallwork.

Centreco’s Business Development Director Thomas Knox said, “Wallwork are typical of many of the clients we are working with, in that they are facing increasing environmental pressure from their customers to ensure complete environmental integrity within the manufacturing process. This is of particular importance for Wallwork given the high-profile sectors they work across.

Solar energy is perfect in a high energy usage environment such as heat treatment as not only are green credentials substantially improved but a system also delivers immediate cost savings and peace of mind that the business is protected against any future energy price hikes.

Wallwork were a pleasure to work with throughout the installation process, from the initial contact with our design and development teams, through to commissioning of the system as they immediately understood the environmental and commercial benefits that a solar energy system brings to their company.”
